Patna Golf Club holds the distinction of being one of the oldest golf clubs in Bihar, with roots stretching back to the colonial era when British administrators and military officers established the game across the subcontinent. The club sits in Patna, the ancient capital city on the southern bank of the Ganges — one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities on earth, with a history spanning more than 2,500 years. That layered sense of history gives the grounds a character that few courses anywhere in the world can claim simply by virtue of where they stand.
The course plays through the flat, alluvial terrain typical of the Indo-Gangetic Plain, where the land offers little natural elevation change but compensates with mature tree cover and a layout that rewards straight, controlled ball-striking over power. The Ganges corridor brings humidity and heat for much of the year, making early morning rounds the preferred choice.
As a members' club serving Patna's sporting and professional community, it carries the relaxed, social atmosphere characteristic of Indian city clubs — a place where the game is as much about companionship and tradition as scorecards.
