Sunriver Resort has been one of the Pacific Northwest's premier golf destinations since the early 1970s, and Meadows — the resort's flagship course — reflects that ambition. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and opened in 1999, it replaced an older layout and gave Sunriver a genuine championship-caliber centerpiece. The course has hosted regional and amateur events and consistently ranks among Oregon's best resort tracks, earning a reputation for rewarding strategic play over pure power.
The setting does much of the work. Sunriver sits on the eastern slope of the Cascades at roughly 4,200 feet in elevation, where the air is thin and dry, ponderosa pines line nearly every fairway, and views of Broken Top and the Three Sisters define the horizon on clear days. The high desert climate means firm, fast conditions and — by Oregon standards — an unusually generous number of playable days each year.
Meadows plays as a par 71 that feels more demanding than a first glance suggests. The course rewards players who manage the tall pines, work around water features, and respect the subtle contours of greens that can turn routine approaches into genuine tests.
