Chippewa Golf Club has been a cornerstone of golf in Wayne County for decades, drawing players from across the Akron-Canton corridor and the broader northeast Ohio region. The club takes its name from Chippewa Township, the rural community that surrounds it, and the course reflects the honest, unpretentious character of that agricultural landscape — open fairways, natural contours, and the kind of layout that rewards shotmaking over raw power.
Northeast Ohio golf has a quietly serious culture. The region produced some of the game's legendary figures and has long supported a dense network of private clubs, daily-fee tracks, and municipal courses. Chippewa occupies a comfortable place in that ecosystem as a course where members and regulars come back season after season, knowing the ground well enough to work it.
The par-71 format signals that at least a couple of shorter holes carry real scoring weight, and in Ohio's variable spring and fall conditions — where wind off the flat midwestern terrain can reshape any hole — local knowledge matters as much as handicap.
