Haven sits on the western shore of Lake Michigan in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin — a stretch of coastline that has quietly become one of the most significant patches of golf real estate in North America. The Irish course is 1 of 4 layouts at Whistling Straits and Blackwolf Run, the broader Kohler Golf complex that has established this corner of Wisconsin as a legitimate bucket-list destination.
The Irish course at Whistling Straits, designed by Pete Dye and opened in 2000, shares its grounds with the famous Straits course but offers a somewhat more sheltered, parkland-influenced character — rolling terrain with dramatic elevation changes, Dye's signature railroad ties and pot bunkers, and views that periodically open toward the lake.
Kohler's courses have hosted multiple PGA Championships and a Ryder Cup, and playing any layout here means stepping onto ground with genuine major-championship pedigree. The Irish rewards strategic thinking over raw power, making it a compelling test for skilled players while remaining one of the most memorable rounds available in the upper Midwest.
