Few public golf facilities in New Jersey carry the institutional weight of Galloping Hill. Owned and operated by Union County, it has served as a genuine community anchor for decades — a place where generations of northern New Jersey golfers have learned the game, ground out twilight rounds after work, and returned year after year without the barrier of a membership fee or a resort price tag. The course sits in Kenilworth, a small borough wedged between the larger communities of Union and Springfield in the heart of Union County. The terrain here is characteristic of northeastern New Jersey — moderately rolling, with mature trees defining the corridors and doing the heavy lifting in terms of challenge and atmosphere. The layout plays to a par of 71, which rewards shot-shaping and accuracy over raw power.
