Few golf courses in the Americas can claim a setting quite like this one. The Comandatuba Ocean Course sits on the Ilha de Comandatuba, a barrier island off the southern Bahia coast that is accessible only by ferry or small aircraft — a deliberate remoteness that gives the place a quality closer to an expedition than a tee time. The surrounding landscape is Atlantic Forest and coconut-palm coastline, with the warm waters of the Camamu Bay on one side and the open South Atlantic on the other.
The course is the centerpiece of the Txai and Tivoli resorts that occupy the island, meaning the typical visitor has surrendered to a full tropical immersion before they even pull a club from the bag. Bahia's climate means golf is possible year-round, though the Brazilian summer brings heat and humidity that will humble a player as effectively as any difficult hole.
For international golfers, Comandatuba represents a rare combination: genuinely world-class resort infrastructure in a landscape that feels genuinely untamed, far from the manufactured tropical golf corridors of the Caribbean or Southeast Asia.
