Few American cities carry a golf pedigree quite like Savannah. Georgia's oldest city sits at the confluence of Lowcountry landscape and Deep South sporting tradition, with Spanish moss-draped live oaks, tidal marshes, and a subtropical climate that keeps the game playable well into winter. Savannah's golf scene has long punched above its weight, attracting serious design talent and serving as a gateway to one of the most golf-rich corridors on the East Coast.
The Ross Course name almost certainly honors Donald Ross, the Scottish-born architect who shaped more of American golf's character than perhaps anyone else. Ross designed hundreds of courses across the Southeast in the early 20th century, and his fingerprints — crowned, crowned greens that reject approach shots just a fraction off-line, subtle fairway contours, and a premium on shot-making over raw power — created a distinctly demanding but always fair test.
