Whittle Springs has a history stretching back to the early 20th century, making it one of Knoxville's oldest golf layouts. The course takes its name from the Whittle Springs Hotel and resort that once occupied the property — a popular retreat destination in the 1910s and 1920s before the land transitioned to its present use.
