San Bernardino sits at the foot of the San Bernardino Mountains, where the Inland Empire gives way to some of Southern California's most dramatic high-desert terrain. Arrowhead Country Club takes its name from a remarkable geological feature visible on the mountainside above the city — a natural rock formation in the shape of an arrowhead, one of the most distinctive landmarks in the region. Playing here means doing so against that backdrop, with the mountains framing nearly every hole and the elevation moderating what can otherwise be punishing valley heat.
As a private members' club in a city that is more working community than resort destination, Arrowhead carries the character of a genuine local institution rather than a showcase facility. Courses like this exist to serve their membership across decades, accumulating traditions and loyalties that no ranking list captures.
The Inland Empire has a surprisingly deep golf culture, with a range of private and public facilities spread across the valley floor. Arrowhead occupies a distinct place in that landscape — elevated in both altitude and ambition.
