Few clubs in the Upper Midwest carry the quiet authority of White Bear Yacht Club. Founded in the late 19th century on the shores of White Bear Lake, the club is one of Minnesota's oldest and most storied private institutions — a place where golf and sailing have coexisted for well over a century. The golf course reflects that heritage: understated, carefully tended, and built for members who know it intimately rather than visitors seeking spectacle.
Dellwood sits in the lake country northeast of St. Paul, where the landscape shifts between glacially carved shoreline, stands of hardwood, and the kind of rolling terrain that rewards course architects willing to work with the land rather than against it. The setting gives the course a distinctly seasonal character — brilliant and demanding in the brief Minnesota summer, and deeply missed once the long winters settle in.
This is a members' club in the truest sense: a place defined less by any single dramatic hole than by accumulated rounds, rivalries, and the particular loyalty that comes from belonging to somewhere genuinely difficult to access.
