Uxbridge sits in Ontario's Durham Region, where the Oak Ridges Moraine rolls the land into the kind of natural contours that golf architects covet. Mill Run's Main Course makes full use of that terrain — this is not flat, manufactured golf but a layout that moves with the earth, rewarding players who read the ground game and account for elevation shifts that don't always announce themselves.
As a public course in a community that takes its recreational golf seriously, Mill Run occupies a comfortable middle ground: approachable enough for a casual weekend round, but with enough variety in its 18 holes to keep regulars engaged across multiple visits. The Durham Region has developed a modest but genuine local golf culture, and courses like this one serve as its everyday backbone — the places where games are built, rivalries are kept friendly, and the handicap actually gets tested.
Fall is the standout season here. The Moraine's hardwood canopy turns in earnest by late September, and a round at that time of year offers scenery that makes a double-bogey considerably easier to forget.
