Cherokee Rose Country Club carries the name of Georgia's state flower, and it serves a community that revolves as much around military life as it does around the game. Hinesville sits just outside Fort Stewart, one of the largest Army installations in the eastern United States, and the club has long functioned as a social and recreational anchor for the officers, families, and civilians who make up this corner of coastal Georgia. That military-community character gives the club a particular warmth and loyalty among its members — this is a place people genuinely claim as their own.
The Liberty County landscape is flat, piney coastal plain, and courses in this part of Georgia tend to play through stands of longleaf and loblolly pine with the occasional wetland corridor coming into play. The heat and humidity of a Georgia summer are facts of life here, and the Bermuda fairways and greens reflect that subtropical reality.
As a private members-only club, Cherokee Rose rewards those who know it well. The par-71 layout offers a slight departure from a conventional design, suggesting at least one hole plays differently than a standard par card would imply.
