会稽山高尔夫俱乐部occupies the foothills of the Kuaiji Mountains in Shaoxing, a city in northeastern Zhejiang Province whose history stretches back more than 2,500 years. The Kuaiji range carries deep significance in Chinese culture — it was here that the legendary King Goujian of Yue rebuilt his kingdom after defeat, a story of perseverance that has defined Shaoxing's identity for millennia. Playing against this backdrop gives the course a sense of cultural weight that few layouts anywhere in the world can match. The mountains provide genuine elevation change and natural drama, with forested ridgelines framing fairways throughout the round.
Shaoxing itself sits between Hangzhou and Ningbo on the Yangtze River Delta, surrounded by terraced hillsides, ancient water towns, and the region's famous Shaoxing rice wine. The climate is humid subtropical, meaning lush conditions through much of the year, though summer brings heat and humidity that favor early morning tee times.
As a private club-style facility in one of China's more prosperous interior cities, 会稽山 caters to a membership expecting well-maintained conditioning and a course that rewards thoughtful play rather than brute length. The mountain terrain ensures that shot-making and course management matter more than simply overpowering the layout.
