Chocowinity sits in the coastal plain of eastern North Carolina, where the Pamlico River widens into the broad estuary that defines this corner of the state. The surrounding landscape is flat, marshy, and threaded with water — the kind of terrain that shapes a golf course as much as any architect's plan. Cypress Landing takes its name from the bald cypress trees that are native to these lowland wetlands, and the course leans into that setting, with water in play on a significant number of holes and the open Carolina sky giving the layout a spacious, unhurried feel.
