Few resort courses carry the weight of history quite like this one. The Mountain View Grand Hotel has stood on this hillside since 1865, making it one of the oldest continuously operating resort properties in New England, and the golf course has long been part of that grand tradition. The White Mountains form the backdrop — a striking panorama of peaks that would distract even the most focused striker — and the layout rolls across terrain shaped by glacial activity over thousands of years, with natural elevation changes that no architect could fully manufacture.
Whitefield sits in northern New Hampshire's Connecticut Lakes region, where the summers are short, the air is genuinely crisp even in July, and the mountain light does something particular in the late afternoon. It's classic White Mountain resort golf: more about the experience of being somewhere beautiful than about grinding through a championship test.
