Few country clubs in northeastern Pennsylvania carry the quiet prestige of Elmhurst, a private members' course that has served the Moscow area since the early 20th century. The club occupies the rolling, heavily wooded terrain of the Pocono foothills, where the landscape does much of the design work — elevation changes, mature hardwoods, and the natural contours of the land shape nearly every hole. It plays as a genuine test for members while remaining the kind of course where the surroundings are as memorable as the scorecard.
Moscow itself sits in Lackawanna County, a short drive from Scranton and the broader Pocono region — an area long associated with outdoor recreation, from ski resorts to lake communities. That four-season character gives Elmhurst a distinct personality depending on when you visit: lush and demanding in summer, spectacular in the brief Pennsylvania fall.
As a private club, Elmhurst revolves around its membership community. Access is typically through member invitation, and the experience reflects that tradition — unhurried, personal, and rooted in the rhythms of a club that knows exactly what it is.
