Central Queensland's coal-mining heartland might seem an unlikely setting for a round of golf, but Emerald has long punched above its weight as a regional service town — and its golf club reflects that same community spirit. Sitting roughly 300 kilometres west of Rockhampton on the Capricorn Highway, Emerald anchors the Gemfields region, a landscape of open savanna, red soil, and the Nogoa River flats that shape both the town's character and the course's terrain.

A par 70 layout suggests a design that rewards accuracy and course management over raw power — shorter par 4s and a likely absence of par 5s means players who work the ball well tend to score, while those swinging out of their boots can come unstuck quickly.
