Garden City sits on the Utah shore of Bear Lake, a glacially carved body of water straddling the Utah-Idaho border that locals call the "Caribbean of the Rockies" for its startling turquoise color — the result of suspended limestone particles rather than any tropical illusion. It's a summer destination town, busy with watersports and family vacations, and the golf course here reflects that identity: a place where the setting does a lot of the heavy lifting.
Bear Lake GC plays as an 18-hole, par-72 layout in a region where the elevation and mountain air give the ball a bit of extra carry, and the short summer season means conditions are typically at their best from June through September. The surrounding Bear River Mountains provide a dramatic ridgeline backdrop, and the course occupies terrain that transitions between the lake valley floor and the foothills characteristic of this corner of the Wasatch Range.
This is recreational golf in the honest sense — a course that serves a resort-minded community looking to round out a lake weekend rather than a destination strictly for serious players. Expect a relaxed atmosphere and scenery that competes hard for your attention between shots.
