Troubadour Golf & Field Club arrived on the national radar quickly after opening in 2019, earning almost immediate recognition as one of the finest new private courses in the country. Designed by King-Collins Golf Design — the partnership of Tad King and Mark Collins — the layout was routed through rolling Middle Tennessee farmland and hardwood forest, with the design team leaning hard into minimalism and naturalism. The result feels unhurried and unforced, the kind of course where the ground game is rewarded and no hole seems to announce itself too loudly.
College Grove sits in Williamson County, one of the fastest-growing corridors in Tennessee, yet the land here still reads as genuinely rural — open meadows, creek drainages, and mature trees that give the property a sense of permanence well beyond its age. The atmosphere is closer to a sporting retreat than a conventional country club, with the "Field Club" identity suggesting a broader connection to the outdoors.
For serious golfers seeking something outside the mainstream resort and legacy-club circuit, Troubadour represents exactly the kind of understated, craft-driven design philosophy that has energized American golf course architecture over the past decade.
