Few settings in Quebec golf match the drama of Boischatel's position on the north shore of the St. Lawrence, just minutes east of Quebec City. The land here sits atop the Laurentian escarpment, where the river broadens into something closer to an inland sea and the views across to the south shore can stop a round cold. Monmorency takes its name from the nearby Chutes-Montmorency — one of Canada's most famous waterfalls, taller than Niagara — and that sense of grandeur in the natural surroundings carries into the course itself.

The layout works through mature mixed forest typical of the Quebec City belt, where hardwoods turn the property into something spectacular come late September and early October. The terrain has genuine movement to it, shaped by the same ancient geology that created the escarpment, and tree-lined corridors demand accuracy off the tee throughout the round.
