Valdeluz is one of the more intriguing modern layouts in Castile-La Mancha, carved through the planned urban development of the same name on the high plateau east of Madrid. The course was conceived as the sporting centerpiece of a large residential project launched in the mid-2000s, a boom-era ambition that was hit hard by Spain's property crash — giving Valdeluz an unusual backstory: a polished, fully realized golf course set against a community that never quite reached its intended scale. That contrast between the quality of the golf and the quiet surroundings makes for a strangely compelling visit.

The terrain here is classic Castilian meseta — open, rolling, and exposed to the wide sky — with holm oaks and scrub framing the fairways and the Sierra de Altomira visible in the distance. At roughly 700 metres above sea level, the air is thin and dry, the ball flies long, and summer rounds are best started early.

For visiting golfers, Valdeluz offers a genuinely playable, well-maintained course with good conditioning and very manageable pace of play, largely because it draws a modest, local crowd rather than tourist volume. It's a sensible stop for anyone traveling the A-2 corridor between Madrid and Zaragoza who wants a round away from the capital's busier, pricier options.
