Stilbaai Golf Club sits on the edge of one of the Western Cape's most quietly beloved coastal towns, a small fishing village on the Goukou River estuary where the pace of life is deliberately unhurried. Still Bay — both the town and the bay itself — sits along the Garden Route's western fringe, roughly midway between Mossel Bay and Riversdale, and draws visitors who come for its pristine beaches, legendary galjoen fishing, and a sense of remoteness that feels increasingly rare along the South African coastline.
The course itself reflects that unpretentious character. This is community golf at its most genuine — a layout shaped by the land rather than by grand ambition, where locals have played in the sea wind for decades and where a visitor quickly understands that the course is inseparable from the town around it.
The fynbos-covered dunes and coastal scrub that define this stretch of the Western Cape make for a natural backdrop, and the prevailing onshore breeze — as with most golf along this coastline — is a factor no card can prepare you for.
