Crown Isle is one of Vancouver Island's most celebrated resort courses, a Graham Cooke design that opened in 1993 and quickly established itself as the premier layout on the island's central east coast. Cooke routed the course through a mix of open parkland and mature Douglas fir corridors, and the result is a course that feels both spacious and strategically demanding — wide enough off the tee to invite a driver, but with water hazards, precise approach angles, and well-contoured greens that separate good rounds from great ones. It has hosted numerous BC-level championships and consistently ranks among the top public-access courses in British Columbia.
Courtenay sits in the Comox Valley, one of the driest and sunniest pockets on Vancouver Island, sheltered by the Vancouver Island Range to the west. That climate keeps Crown Isle playable for more of the year than much of coastal Canada can claim, and the backdrop of the Beaufort Mountains gives the property a setting that goes well beyond typical resort scenery.
The resort experience here is genuinely polished — lodging, dining, and instruction are all on-site — which makes Crown Isle a natural anchor for a dedicated golf trip to the island rather than just a single-day detour.
