Army BEPTA Bison Golf Course

Few golf courses in India carry as much institutional weight as this one. The Bison Golf Course sits within the sprawling British-era cantonment at Secunderabad, one of the largest and oldest military cantonments on the subcontinent, established in the early 19th century as a garrison town adjacent to Hyderabad. Golf arrived here through the British Army, and the course retains that legacy — a members' facility administered under the Army's BEPTA (Bengal Engineer Para Training Academy or equivalent regimental authority), serving the military community of the twin-city region.

Secunderabad and Hyderabad together form a metro area with a serious but understated golf culture, anchored by a handful of club and cantonment courses. The Deccan Plateau terrain means relatively flat, open ground, and the climate swings hard — hot and dry from March through May, followed by a proper monsoon season that softens the fairways dramatically before the cooler winter months arrive and make for genuinely comfortable rounds.

For civilians, access is typically restricted or requires military sponsorship, which gives the Bison Course a quietly exclusive character — less about prestige than about the tight-knit community it serves.
