Sun City West is one of the Del Webb retirement communities that helped define a particular vision of the American Southwest — active adults, endless sunshine, and golf at the center of daily life. The community sits in the Sonoran Desert northwest of Phoenix, where the landscape trades the metro's density for wide skies, saguaro-studded hillsides, and temperatures that make early morning tee times a religion from May through September.
A par-60 layout like Stardust is purpose-built for the way this community actually plays the game — shorter holes, quicker rounds, and a premium on shot-making over raw distance. That format suits a membership base that plays frequently and values access and pace as much as challenge. Expect a course weighted heavily toward par 3s and short par 4s, where placement, trajectory, and touch around the greens matter far more than what you hit off the tee.
Sun City West maintains several courses for its residents, and Stardust fits into that rotation as a walkable, sociable option well-suited to the Sonoran morning — get out early, finish before the heat peaks, and be at the clubhouse by noon.
