Findlay sits in the flat, agricultural heart of northwest Ohio — Hancock County terrain that doesn't hand architects much in the way of dramatic elevation change, which means a good course designer has to earn interest through routing, bunkering, and the thoughtful use of whatever natural contours exist. Hillcrest Golf Club works within that honest midwestern landscape, and the result is the kind of membership-oriented club that has long served as a community's primary gathering point for the game.
A par-71 layout signals something worth noting before you even pull a club: expect at least a couple of par-4s that play as genuine three-shot temptations for longer hitters, or a routing that leans on a strong set of shorter holes to keep the card honest. Either way, the course asks you to think rather than simply overpower it.
Findlay itself is a solid small city with a stable local golf culture — the sort of place where regulars know every break on every green and visiting players are welcomed into a game without much fuss.
