Belas Clube Campo Golf Course

Few settings in Portuguese golf carry quite the weight of history that surrounds Belas Clube de Campo. Designed by Rocky Roquemore and opened in 1996, the course was built within a private residential estate on the western outskirts of Lisbon, in the foothills leading toward Sintra. Roquemore routed the layout across rolling, wooded terrain — mature pines and cork oaks frame virtually every hole — giving the course a parkland intimacy that feels removed from the sprawl of the capital, even though the city is barely 20 minutes away.

The course has earned a reputation as one of the stronger members' clubs in the Greater Lisbon area, regularly appearing on Portuguese top-course lists. It plays with genuine variety: elevation changes are significant, several holes demand precise positioning off the tee, and the greens reward patience and local knowledge over brute force.

Sintra itself is a UNESCO World Heritage site, its palaces and forested hillsides making it one of the most dramatically beautiful corners of the Iberian Peninsula. Playing Belas means trading on that proximity to somewhere genuinely extraordinary.
