Kamloops sits at the confluence of the North and South Thompson Rivers, in a semi-arid landscape of tawny hills, sagebrush, and sweeping river valleys that looks nothing like the rain-soaked image most people carry of British Columbia. Eaglepoint Golf Club sits above that terrain on the benchlands east of the city, and the views out over the Thompson River corridor and the surrounding bluffs are a genuine part of what the course sells — the kind of panorama that makes a mediocre shot feel almost forgivable.
As a resort property, Eaglepoint is built to welcome visiting golfers rather than serve a closed membership, which tends to mean an emphasis on playability and presentation alongside the challenge. The Kamloops region has developed into one of interior BC's stronger golf destinations, drawing players who appreciate dry, firm conditions and reliably warm summers in a province where many courses battle cool, wet weather well into the season.
The semi-desert setting means fairways that run fast and approaches that demand precision with trajectory — bump-and-run is often a legitimate option here in ways it simply isn't on BC's wetter, softer coastal layouts.
