One of the older golfing establishments in Warwickshire, Leamington and County Golf Club sits at the heart of a region with deep roots in the game. Royal Leamington Spa itself is a Georgian and Regency spa town of considerable elegance — wide tree-lined boulevards, ornamental gardens, and a civic character that still carries traces of its 19th-century heyday as a fashionable retreat. Golf arrived in this part of the English Midlands not long after the game spread south from Scotland, and a club of this name and standing has been part of the local sporting landscape for well over a century.
The Warwickshire countryside surrounding the town tends toward rolling farmland and mature deciduous woodland — the kind of terrain that lends itself naturally to parkland golf, with seasonal colour that can make an autumn round genuinely beautiful and winter conditions that test patience as much as technique.
As a members' club serving a prosperous market town, Leamington and County carries the character of a proper county club: a layout designed to reward repeat knowledge, a membership with strong local identity, and the unhurried rhythm that distinguishes a club with history from one merely trying to manufacture it.
