Few settings in European golf are as arresting as the Dolomites above Bolzano, where the jagged limestone peaks of the Rosengarten massif form a backdrop that stops you mid-swing. Nova Levante — known in German as Welschnofen, reflecting the region's bilingual Alto Adige identity — sits at altitude in a valley that trades the heat of the Italian south for cool alpine air, pine forest, and meadows that hold their green well into autumn.
Carezza is a 9-hole mountain layout, and the terrain does the architecture's work for it. Courses at this elevation tend to demand precise ball-striking rather than length — the ground is uneven, the air thinner, and the natural contours of an alpine meadow create lies and angles that a flat-country golfer simply doesn't encounter. Par 35 for 9 holes signals at least one par-5 or a short par-4 with teeth somewhere in the card.
This is golf as a reason to spend a day in one of the most beautiful corners of the Alps — the kind of round where you pause more than once just to look up.
