Windermere Golf & Country Club has been a fixture of cottage country life on the eastern shore of Lake Rosseau for well over a century, making it one of Muskoka's oldest and most storied clubs. The "Old" designation signals a layout with genuine heritage — a course shaped by the land long before modern earthmoving equipment allowed architects to impose their will on a site. What you get here is golf that works with the natural topography of the Canadian Shield: rocky outcroppings, mature pines, and elevation changes that demand imagination off the tee.
Muskoka itself sets a hard standard for scenery. The region draws cottagers and outdoor enthusiasts every summer precisely because the landscape is so dramatically beautiful, and Windermere sits comfortably within that tradition. The village is small and unhurried, and the club reflects that pace — this is a place where members have been returning season after season for generations.
For visitors, the Old course offers something increasingly rare: golf that feels genuinely rooted in its surroundings rather than built on top of them.
