Hills

The Hills Golf Club stands as one of Finland's most celebrated courses, regularly appearing at or near the top of Scandinavian golf rankings. Designed by Christoph Städler and opened in 1997, it occupies a dramatic stretch of forested countryside in Jokikunta, a rural corner of Uusimaa province roughly an hour's drive northwest of Helsinki. The routing makes inventive use of the natural topography — rocky outcrops, dense pine and birch woodland, and the kind of glacially shaped terrain that gives Finnish golf its distinctive character.

The course earned a serious reputation early and has attracted international attention as one of the most architecturally sophisticated layouts in the Nordic region. Fairways thread through tight corridors of forest, demanding precise ball-striking, while several holes open onto broader, more strategic ground where course management rewards intelligent play over raw power.

Uusimaa's short summers mean the course is immaculate but fleeting — playing Hills in the long-light evenings of June or July, when the Finnish sky barely darkens, is an experience no scorecard can convey.
