Few private clubs in American golf carry the name recognition of Isleworth. Developed in the late 1980s on the shores of Lake Bessie in the Butler Chain of Lakes, the community became one of the most exclusive addresses in professional golf — Tiger Woods lived here for years, as did Mark O'Meara, and the roster of tour players who called Isleworth home reads like a who's who of the sport's modern era. The club became as much a training ground for elite professionals as it was a private retreat, and that culture of serious, high-level golf is woven into everything about the place.
The course itself was designed by Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay, routed through a lush, oak-canopied landscape typical of Central Florida's lake country. Water is a constant presence, and the subtropical setting — brilliant in winter, demanding in summer — gives the property a look and feel that earns its prestige.
Windermere sits just west of Orlando, a world removed from the theme-park sprawl, in a pocket of old Florida wealth and quiet lakefront beauty. Getting on Isleworth is its own achievement.
