Calgary's municipal golf system is one of the more underrated public golf networks in Canada, and Lakeview has long been a workhorse of that system — a neighborhood layout on the city's southwest side that serves everyone from junior beginners to retired regulars who've walked its fairways for decades. It sits within the established Lakeview residential community, meaning the course lives inside the city rather than on its fringe, giving it that lived-in, community-anchored character that the best munis carry.
The southwest quadrant of Calgary offers some genuine topographic interest, and the course works with the gentle rolls and mature tree lines that define this part of the city. It plays as a honest test for mid-handicappers without pretending to be something it isn't — a place where a 3-hour round and a reasonable green fee are as much a part of the appeal as the golf itself.
For visitors to Calgary, the city's publicly owned courses punch well above their price point. Lakeview is the kind of local institution where you show up, pay your fee, and leave remembering why public golf matters.
