Petit Port sits along the banks of the Erdre river in northern Nantes, one of the city's most beloved stretches of open green space. The Erdre has long been called the most beautiful river in France — a claim attributed to François I — and the parkland that flanks it through this district has a relaxed, civic generosity to it, a place where the city breathes. Swingolf, the French twist on traditional golf that uses oversized clubs and balls to lower the barrier to entry, fits naturally into that spirit: accessible, social, and genuinely enjoyable for players who have never owned a handicap.
The format means this is not a course built around precision shotmaking or course management in the conventional sense. Distances are shorter, the equipment forgiving, and the emphasis falls squarely on fun and ease of play — making it a strong introduction to golf-adjacent recreation for families, groups, and curious beginners passing through Nantes.
The city itself is a consistently underrated destination in western France, with strong cultural credentials, excellent food, and a mild Atlantic-influenced climate that keeps the Erdre corridor playable across much of the year.
