Shannon Lake Golf Club sits above the west side of Okanagan Lake, occupying a property that rises into the dry benchland terrain characteristic of the Central Okanagan. The course takes its name from the small lake on the grounds, and water — both the lake itself and the surrounding ponderosa pine forest — gives the layout a distinct identity that sets it apart from the valley floor courses nearby. At par 70, the design leans shorter and tighter than a traditional championship test, rewarding placement and course management over raw power.
Westbank (now formally West Kelowna) sits directly across Okanagan Lake from Kelowna, one of British Columbia's most golf-dense corridors. The region's semi-arid climate means a long season, typically running from early spring well into autumn, with the kind of firm, fast conditions that Okanagan regulars have come to expect from courses built on this sunbaked terrain.
Shannon Lake functions as a community-oriented club — the kind of place where local members play regularly and visiting golfers find a relaxed, unpretentious round with genuine scenery. The elevated site provides views out toward the lake and surrounding hills that remind you, mid-round, exactly where you are.
