The name Lowlands tells you something immediate about where this course lives — down in the flatter, river-influenced terrain rather than up on the bluffs, the kind of ground that likely brings water into play and rewards players who manage the land rather than overpower it.

A par-71 layout breaks from the standard symmetry of a 72, typically signaling an asymmetrical mix of par-4s and par-3s that gives the routing its own personality. Courses built into lowland terrain tend to reward course management — reading how the ground moves, respecting what wet conditions do to fairways and greens, and staying patient when the land pushes back.

Red Wing itself is a compact, historically rich river town, home to Pottery and Red Wing Shoes, and situated along one of the more scenic stretches of the Great River Road. Playing golf here means doing it with the Mississippi valley as your backdrop.
