Steinbach Fly-in Golf Course takes its name from the annual fly-in aviation event that has long been part of the local community's identity — a fitting tribute in a region where flat prairie skies feel limitless and light aircraft are a common sight. The course sits in Steinbach, a mid-sized city about 50 kilometres southeast of Winnipeg in the heart of Manitoba's Mennonite country, a community known for its strong work ethic, tight-knit culture, and deep roots in the surrounding agricultural landscape.
Golf on the southern Manitoba plains comes with its own character: wide-open terrain, persistent prairie wind that can turn a benign round into a genuine examination of shot-shaping, and a short but intense season bookended by hard winters and warm, humid summers. Tree-lined fairways offer some shelter from the breeze, but the wind is rarely far from the equation here.
As a community course serving a growing regional hub, Fly-in offers accessible, unpretentious golf — the kind of place where regulars know each other by name and weekend foursomes move at an easy pace.
