Fields Ferry Golf Club sits along the Oostanaula River in Calhoun, a small city in northwest Georgia's Gordon County that sits squarely in the ridge-and-valley geography of the southern Appalachian foothills. The course takes its name from the historic ferry crossing that once operated on this stretch of river, grounding the layout in a landscape shaped by Cherokee history and Civil War movement — this corridor was contested territory during Sherman's Atlanta Campaign of 1864.
