Yeongwol-gun sits deep in the mountainous interior of Gangwon Province, one of the most ruggedly beautiful corners of the Korean peninsula. The county is better known for its dramatic river gorges — the Donggang cuts through limestone karst formations that draw kayakers and hikers year-round — and for the somber history of Cheongnyeongpo, where the boy king Danjong was exiled in the 15th century. Golf here means playing at genuine elevation, among forested ridgelines and valleys that bear little resemblance to the manicured resort corridors closer to Seoul.
하이망 CC점 occupies this highland setting, where the terrain dictates the routing in ways a flat parkland course never experiences. Expect significant elevation changes between tees and greens, mountain air that affects ball flight, and the kind of scenery that makes a poor shot easier to forgive.
Gangwon-do has developed a quiet but credible golf identity, with courses that reward players willing to make the journey inland from the capital. A round here is less about prestige and more about the honest pleasure of playing in proper mountain country.
