Few Adirondack destinations carry the historical weight of Lake Placid Club, whose sporting legacy stretches back to the late 19th century. The Club was among the earliest private retreats in the Northeast to embrace golf, and at various points operated multiple courses across its sprawling grounds overlooking Mirror Lake and the High Peaks. What remains today as a 9-hole layout is a remnant of a far grander operation — one that once drew wealthy summering families and shaped the character of American resort golf in the mountains.
