Clovelly Country Club

Few golf clubs carry the kind of unhurried, old-world atmosphere that Clovelly Country Club has maintained since its founding in 1932. Laid out along a narrow valley between the mountains and the sea on the southern end of the Cape Peninsula, the course occupies one of the more dramatically framed pieces of golfing land in South Africa. The False Bay coastline sits just beyond the tree line, and on clear days the views toward the Hottentots Holland mountains are a genuine distraction from the task at hand.

The layout threads through mature coastal vegetation — Port Jackson, fynbos scrub, and tall gum trees defining the corridors — and the terrain introduces enough undulation to demand creative shot-making without feeling contrived. Wind off False Bay is the great variable here, capable of turning a straightforward round into something far more demanding.
