Few public courses in the Cincinnati area generate as much local loyalty as Legendary Run, a layout that carved its identity out of the rolling topography that defines the Ohio River corridor's inland terrain. Opened in the late 1990s and designed by Arthur Hills, the course plays through mature hardwoods and dramatic elevation changes that give it a character well beyond what many daily-fee facilities manage to achieve. Hills brought his signature blend of strategic variety and visual drama, and the result is a course that rewards thoughtful shot-making rather than raw power.
The eastern Cincinnati suburbs where Legendary Run sits offer a genuine four-season golf experience, with the course's wooded corridors blazing into color every autumn — one of the better times to play it. The hill country setting means no two consecutive holes feel alike, and several tee shots require real commitment over or around terrain that punishes a lazy swing.
For public golf in the region, Legendary Run consistently earns its reputation as one of the stronger tests available without a membership. It plays longer and more demanding than a casual outing, but the scenery and layout keep it worth revisiting.
