Anapoima sits in the warm Tobia Canyon corridor of Cundinamarca, roughly 2 hours southwest of Bogotá by road, where the altitude drops from the savanna plateau into a drier, sun-baked valley. Temperatures here run considerably warmer than the capital — this is weekend-escape Colombia, a landscape of haciendas, fruit trees, and red-clay roads that feels a world away from the bustle of the city. Golf in this part of the country tends to unfold at a slower, more social pace, and the setting along the Apulo River basin gives courses here a distinct tropical lowland character that highland Colombian layouts simply cannot replicate.
Mesa de Yeguas — "Plateau of the Mares" — is a private club development that has been part of Anapoima's recreational identity for decades, and the "Doradas" 18-hole layout carries a 2011 designation that likely reflects a redesign or reconfiguration of the routing during that period.
Playing here means contending with heat, elevation change across undulating terrain, and the kind of lush-but-firm conditions the Cundinamarca lowlands produce. For Bogotanos escaping the cloud cover, this is where Colombian golf gets sun.
