Oberndorf am Lech sits in the Donau-Ries district of Swabian Bavaria, where the Lech River has carved a broad, gently rolling landscape across the region's western edge. This corner of Bavaria doesn't draw the tourist crowds of the Alps to the south, but it offers something quieter and arguably more honest — open agricultural terrain, wide skies, and a pace of life that filters directly into the golf experience here.
Golfclub Eggelstetten occupies that agricultural character fully. The course plays through the kind of Bavarian countryside that feels genuinely rural rather than manicured into something artificial — expect tree lines, natural grade changes, and conditions shaped as much by the regional climate as by any design ambition. Bavarian parkland courses at this scale tend to reward course management and straight driving over raw power, and the setting gives the round a calm, unhurried quality that stands apart from more resort-oriented venues.
The club draws a loyal local membership from the surrounding Donau-Ries communities, and the atmosphere reflects that — collegial, unpretentious, and rooted in the everyday golf culture that Bavaria does particularly well.
