Chatham Hills arrived on the Indiana golf scene with serious ambitions. Designed by Tom Watson and his longtime design partner Denis Griffiths, the course opened in 2016 as the centerpiece of a master-planned residential community north of Indianapolis. Watson's involvement gave the project instant credibility, and the design reflects his instinct for strategic, classically grounded golf — firm and fast conditions rewarded, with natural-looking bunkering and a routing that moves comfortably through the rolling Hamilton County landscape.
The course has quickly built a strong regional reputation, regularly appearing near the top of Indiana's best-courses lists and earning recognition as one of the more ambitious private club openings the state has seen in recent decades. Playing it feels like a deliberate step away from the target-golf era — angles matter, ground game is viable, and the finishing stretch demands composure.
Westfield itself sits in one of the fastest-growing corridors in the Indianapolis metro, and Chatham Hills carries an energy that matches its surroundings: polished, forward-looking, and intent on belonging to a longer conversation about serious Midwestern golf.
