San Fernando is the capital of La Union province, sitting along the northwestern coast of Luzon where the South China Sea meets a shoreline that has made this stretch of the Ilocos Region increasingly well known — first for its surf breaks, then as a broader weekend destination drawing visitors from Manila and beyond. The Cliff Golf Course takes its name from the dramatic coastal topography that defines this part of La Union, where the land drops sharply toward the water and the views extend far out over the sea.
As a resort course, The Cliff is designed to deliver scenery alongside the game itself — the kind of layout where the setting competes for your attention on every tee. The surrounding area blends beach culture with mountain backdrops inland, and the coastal air and afternoon winds off the South China Sea are a genuine factor in how the course plays, regardless of what the card says.
La Union has quietly built a reputation as one of the more livable and visitable provinces in northern Luzon, and a resort golf experience here pairs well with the region's surf community, local food scene, and relatively unhurried pace compared to Metro Manila.
