Few golf clubs in Atlantic Canada carry as much history as Belvedere. Established in 1904, it stands among the oldest courses in Prince Edward Island, and its layout on the western edge of Charlottetown has evolved over more than a century while retaining the intimate, members'-first character that defines a genuine golf club. The course was redesigned by prolific Canadian architect Stanley Thompson in the 1930s, and his influence — natural routings, strategic bunkering, and an emphasis on ground game — can still be felt throughout the property.
Playing Belvedere means playing through PEI's quintessential landscape: gently rolling terrain, the island's signature red-soil earth visible where the land opens up, and a mature tree canopy that tightens approaches and rewards patience over power. The weather off the Northumberland Strait keeps conditions honest, and the turf plays firm and fast when the island summers deliver.
As a private club in the heart of the provincial capital, Belvedere is woven into the civic fabric of Charlottetown — the kind of place where local golf history and community identity are genuinely inseparable.
