Ed Oliver Golf Course

Few municipal courses in the Mid-Atlantic carry a name quite as fitting as this one. Ed "Porky" Oliver was a Wilmington native who went on to become one of the most colorful and beloved touring professionals of the 1940s and 50s — a big personality whose game was good enough to challenge for major titles, including a near-miss at the 1946 U.S. Open. Naming the city's public course after him was a natural tribute to a genuinely local hero.

Wilmington sits at the northern edge of Delaware, where the Piedmont rolls toward the coastal plain, and the city has a quiet but genuine golf tradition.
