Trentham Park

Trentham Park Golf Club occupies one of the more historically resonant settings in Staffordshire, laid out within the grounds of the great Trentham Estate — the former country seat of the Dukes of Sutherland. The parkland here has roots going back centuries, and the course moves through mature woodland and open glades that still carry the character of a grand English country estate. That heritage gives the place a weight and atmosphere most golf courses simply can't manufacture.

The layout plays as a genuine parkland test, where tree-lined corridors demand accuracy off the tee and the ground tends to hold a little softer than the heathland courses further south in the county. The par 71 configuration means birdie opportunities exist, but the course earns its respect through position and patience rather than raw length.

Stoke-on-Trent sits at the heart of the Potteries, not traditionally thought of as golf country, but the surrounding Staffordshire countryside quietly supports a strong club scene. Trentham Park stands near the top of it.
